This post writes itself, right? You can probably even infer the huge fight in the middle of nowhere after wandering around for two hours and arriving absolutely nowhere.
There’s a happy ending: Husband can run really fast, so he finally went and got the car so we didn’t have to drag ourselves all the way back, and then later we used his cell phone, which has GPS that actually functions, to, uh, drive to the spot, two miles away.

Oh no!! I totally want to try it, but worry about the whole “getting lost” thing. My husband and I are not exactly the most trained outdoorsman-types. I’ve been thinking I’d start with an urban cache – you’ve convinced me!! No desire to get lost in the woods.
Thank goodness your husband can run (and did!).

We actually started in the woods and ended up in a neighborhood. The stupid broken GPS kept trying to convince me the spot was immured in the wall of this one house. That’s when we finally realized that the reason Husband had never found anything with that one was because it was just totally making shit up.

Well, I’m glad there was a happy ending.
I’m a bit intrigued by geocaching. But more so by letterboxing, which is more low-tech, and seems quaint.
So far, though, we mostly hang out around the house, and find “surprises” under the couch.

Never heard of that. I checked it out and there are three boxes on the island! This low-tech version may be more our speed. You can imagine Little Girl’s disappointment that we never found the treasure so I want to try again.

Ha! Too funny – I can just imagine how that played out.
As long as you weren’t permanently lost…

Oy vey…never leave the house without snacks. My motto.

My brother-in-law used to do something similar to this. I think it was called letter boxing.

Oh dear. Sorry it didn’t work out, but it was ambitious to try.
I’d never heard of letter boxing, but there’s a box in a park we go to all the time! Now I’m kind of intrigued.
