Exactly how long is a cold supposed to last? Just a few days and then you start to get better, right? Then why am I still spending all my time blowing my nose and having miserable coughing fits, living off cough drops, and unable to sleep for more than a few hours a night, even though I turn off the lights at 9 PM? This is horrible. If I could just get some rest. Even when my cold isn’t keeping me up, it’s the goddamn cats. Not even just my own cats. When we were staying at my mom’s house, her stupid cat would take up meowing insanely every time I had a coughing fit, and now my own cats have this hateful new habit of scratching at the hall doors all motherfucking night long. I just need to get better. Would it be weird to reschedule my first OB appointment that’s tomorrow so I can stay home and be sick and continue poorly parenting my two-year-old at home by plying her with videos and pretzels so I can just lie down? I guess I’ll suck it up and go. The internet says I can take some cold medicines so maybe that will help. I am so sick. It sucks oh so much. The end.

Go, so the OB can make sure you don’t have bronchitis or some nonsense like that.
I feel you on the cats. We lock ours into the kitchen and family room at night, but one of them often tries to break out. Then he comes and scratches at our door at five in the morning and I want to kill him every time.
