I have a four-part system for managing clothes with problems.
One basket is for clothes that need buttons; another for clothes that need rips and tears stitched up. The big plastic hamper is for scrap cloth (like really nice irreparably stained silk dresses that I have vague ideas about turning into scarves) and the tote bag with stained clothes.
During last night’s debate I finally attacked the button/stitching collection and got about halfway through. I put some of that stuff in there so long ago I’d totally forgotten it existed so it was sort of like a free shopping spree.
For intractable stains I have a weakness for using stencils to camouflage them with semi-fluorescent puffy paint. I’m not too good at fabric painting but at least it makes me feel like I tried. The results are cute on Little Girl’s clothes at least.
WordPress seems to have a new poll-making feature so let’s give it a go!

What a great idea on the puffy paint. Of course, my kids would then have puffy painted animals on their knees, bottoms, wrists, elbows, tummies, and backs!

I used to try to save toren/stained clothes, but lately I have just been tossing them or letting the kids continue to wear them anyways. For example, Izzy was wearing a BRAND NEW outfit last week when he decided to spit up squash. I washed it with Shout, but the white shirt is stained. And he is wearing that damn outfit anyways. It is BRAND NEW.

I am SO impressed. I consider myself pretty green and all the stained/ripped stuff goes straight to the ratty thrift store. You know…for people who love buying clothes that need repair. LOL. *kicks self*

I wouldn’t have thought of it as “green” so much as “really really really cheap.” But I guess those two often coincide.
