Strange but true

2 April 2008

We were at a mall play area yesterday morning when Baby noticed one of the mommies drinking some Coke. “Wah wah!” she alerted me, pointing (this is the word she uses generically for “drink”). The mommy looked quizzically at her, so I told her (in Spanish, since she’d been speaking Spanish to her friend and kids) that Baby was just commenting on how she was drinking something. The woman smiled and nodded. A few minutes later she got up and then came back with some lemonade from the vending machine…which she slipped into the cupholder in Baby’s stroller tray. Very kind of her. Also quite a surprise.

Last night I had a vivid dream about trying for a vaginal birth. It was time to push. I pushed hard…and wet the bed. Did you know that I am four years old?

Baby woke up today and still didn’t want to walk, crying if she took a step. She started crawling. She was willing, quite unlike a toddler, to lounge in a chair and read books rather than rush around like she usually does, so I made an appointment with the pediatrician and took her over there. At first in the waiting room she sat nicely in a chair and commented on her surroundings, but then two other children befriended her and…she started walking around and playing. After about twenty minutes of this, still before we were called back, I just told the receptionist that apparently Baby was fine, so we left. She’s not had any trouble since. Huh. So apparently someone did pull an April Fool’s joke on me. I knew Baby was smart, but that’s impressive.

    Too funny.

I loved the DR office story. I love that you just up and left, I probably would have stayed and went on and on about how she hadn’t seemed fine in the morning, etc.

    Glad she is feeling better!

Well, you know me. I’m not paying a 25 dollar copay if nobody is sick/injured!
