So, we’re back from the beach. Wow, that was a long sojourn. But good. For a few days my friend and her three-year-old were there with us, and it was just barely warm enough to play in the sand. At first Baby was kind of prissy about getting sand on her hands (she kept holding them out, talking about how they were dirty, and then wiping them on my pants), but my friend’s daughter showed her how fun it could be. Then my mother and grandparents came (and my friend left) and the weather turned windy and wet and cooler. This kept people off the golf course beside the house, so Baby got to run in the mist over its green green grass and rolling hills, hunting for stray golf balls like Easter eggs. We blustered along the beach, watching the soft sand get blown–it whipped whitely across the beach moaning, like ghosts. We lay in the hammock and watched the Palmetto Palms sway, then picked up the downed fronds and branches, Baby then riding atop the mound on the wheelbarrow. Baby was extra-generous with the hugs and kisses to all family members and was at every turn charming. She also enjoyed chasing seagulls, splashing in tidepools, and moving sand from one place to another. I was quite stressed out at the beginning about my grandmother’s Alzheimer’s related behaviors, but calmed down a bit, and even enjoyed a few hands of the tedious and confounding game of bridge with my grandparents and mom. All in all it was a good vacation, not that my life is so busy and stressful that I really require such, but still. Very nice. Too bad Husband couldn’t join us, but he spent his free time quite diligently working on our backyard. We have Great Plans for spring. Anyway, so, hi!

2 March 2008Baby and I are off to the beach for the week (Husband is busy with a huge work project, so, unfortunately, he isn’t coming. Stupid working-for-a-living). A friend and her daughter are joining us, and later in the week my mother and grandparents will be there.
But a week without posts will not do, so every day awesome new videos of Baby doing hilarious and/or charming things will appear–as if by magic!
To start, we have some adorable singing and dancing.
